Drunk Hotel Girls

Hyatt Place, Cherry Creek, Denver Colorado

12:04 a.m.  A loud knocking sound on my door.  "Jenny, we want to wish you a happy birthday, open up!"  My name is Kat and it's not my birthday. I yell out, "I'm Kat and it's not my birthday!"  More loud banging.  Drunk girls singing happy birthday to Jenny.  I get up, open the door and say, "I'm not Jenny and it's not my birthday, go back to your rooms."  Silence. More silence.  Heads low, "Sorry." Very drunk girls saying sorry over and over again.  Silence.  More silence.  Me waiting.  "Do you know where Jenny is?", says one drunk girl.  My reply, "She's on the 4th floor."  I'm on the 3rd floor.  Sorry 4th floor guests.  A girl has to do what a girl has to do.

Six Things I Didn't Know About Colorado

Colorado is known for it's beautiful Rocky Mountain landscape, premier ski resorts and of course the Denver Broncos.  My recent visit to the mile high state I discovered 6 things I didn't know about Colorado.

1)      Puppy Chow is made in Denver.  When you drive by the plant it smells like puppy breath.  It made me want to go out and buy a puppy.  Instead I drove by it again.  Who doesn’t like puppy breath?

2)      There is a huge Budweiser plant outside of Fort Collins.  I thought Coors ruled that state?  How did they let a Budweiser plant in?  They offer tours.  I will be attending one of those tours the next time I’m in town as I need to know how they managed to manufacture beer in the Coors family backyard.  I can also report back to my Bud drinking friends in MT how it’s made.

3)      When traveling on I-25 North it turns in to a two lane hi-way on each side.  There are signs posted that read: “State Law Keep to the Right Expect When Passing”  I got pulled over for traveling on the left for an extended period of time.  I told the officer that I thought it was only a suggestion.  I had no idea they took that so seriously.  He let me go without a ticket.  What I find interesting is that I was also speeding at the time.  He didn’t bring up my speeding violation.  So apparently if you are on I-25 you can speed but you better keep to the right hand lane!

4)      Denver has some of the most beautiful people in the world.  Healthy, fit, glowing. What is it about Denver that attracts such people?  Is there a city ordinance  that prohibits anyone unfortunate looking? Since I wasn’t asked to leave in violation of such an ordinance I will take that as a compliment.

5)   If you are single move to Denver right now. I'm totally serious. Move, do not waste any time.  I've never seen more single people running around in one place in my whole life and based on my observations are having a great time.  If you're looking for a relationship you will clearly increase your odds as well.

6)   Colorado people seem to always be in a good mood. I guess there is nothing to be in a bad mood about.  They're attractive, successful, smart and live in a beautiful state.

Colorado my hat's off to you. I can't wait for my return to find out of what you have to offer.

Oh Cheyenne Wyoming

I recently took a business trip to Cheyenne, Wyoming. Because Cheyenne is an old western town I decided to go with this theme and instead of staying in the usual Hilton hotel that I would be adventurous and stay at The Plains Inn Hotel in downtown Cheyenne.  This seemingly charming hotel is an old western hotel and a historical landmark. An adventure it was!  The hallways to the guest rooms look nothing short of the hotel in The Shining.  I expected the twin girls to show up every time I walked down the hall to my room. I decided to eat in the hotel restaurant.  I sat up at the bar and a very pleasant young woman waited on me.  I asked her to see the wine list.  She proceed to point to a variety of Barefoot Winery blends of wine.  They had it all, Cab, Merlot, Pinot Grigo, Moscato, Chardonnay all in large jugs displayed with pride.  I asked her if there was something else she could offer me? She gets a serious look on her face and tells me she will be right back.  A few minutes later she returns with what she refers to as the "high end" wine.  It was a Coppola Cabernet that I happen to know retails for around $12.00 a bottle.  I tell her, "Good enough."  She opens the bottle with care and pours a sample for me to taste.  So I indulge her and take a taste.  "Pour away!" I say. I drink my wine with my dinner and ask for the bill. When the bill is presented to me I noticed I was charged $11.00 for this "very special" wine!  The Barefoot was $2.00 a glass.  Maybe I should have choked that down instead!

The adventure continues................

The next morning I get up to start my day of visiting clients.  I turn on the shower and the water is cold and barely coming out of the shower head.  I'm already undressed and do not have time to call the front desk to address this issue.  So I decided to power through.  I have long hair.  The minute I get shampoo lathered in my hair the water shuts off.   I desperately play with the faucet, handles whatever I could to get the water on without success.  I jump out and go to the sink to try and rinse my hair out.  I'm not sure how to describe this old bathroom sink other then to say I could barely get my head underneath the faucet.  As soon as I get my hair rinsed the shower comes back on spitting cold water out.  I jump back in and proceed with putting conditioner in my hair.  Once again, the water turns off.  I return to the sink to rinse out my hair.  You guessed it.  The second I get my hair rinsed out the shower turns back on.  I take another chance and jump back in to finish my shower.  This time it provides enough freezing cold water to finish my shower.  I was just about to jump out when the shower head finally provides a steady stream of warm water.  As I was checking out I complained to the front desk clerk who was a very polite young man about the shower experience.  His response to me was as follows.  "Mam, you're on the fourth floor and it takes about 20 minutes for the water to reach you."  I couldn't help but think that if there were a fire in the building would it take 20 minutes for the water to reach the sprinkler system on the fourth floor?
